Update programme for the public realm works in Oostenburgermiddenstraat
On 20 April, residents were informed about these works by letter. Unfortunately, we will not be able to meet the schedule communicated at that time. This is due to delays in constructing the infrastructure required for the future underground waste containers. At the locations where these containers will be installed, unexpected underground obstructions were encountered. These obstructions first had to be removed before the required infrastructure for the underground waste containers could be installed. In this update, we inform residents about the revised phasing, the reason for the delay and the updated programme.
What work will be carried out?
We will be carrying out works in the Oostenburgermiddenstraat, between Jacob Bontiusplaats and Willem Theunisse Blokstraat. We appreciate that these works may cause inconvenience and will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum.
The works will be carried out in five phases. Maps showing the location of the works for each phase can be found at the end of this page.
Phase 1 – First section of Oostenburgermiddenstraat (works before the summer construction holiday)
When: Until Thursday 16 July
- Completion of the current works in preparation for surfacing
- Asphalt surfacing on Wednesday 15 July

What are we doing?
We will continue with the permanent layout of the street and public space. We will also apply the final asphalt surface to this section of the carriageway in the Oostenburgermiddenstraat.

- Properties on the Oostenburgermiddenstraat will remain accessible.
- The entrances to The Hubb will remain accessible via temporary pedestrian walkways for as long as the permanent layout has not yet been completed.
- A single alternate traffic system will be in operation for cars:
- On working days between 7.00 am and 4.00 pm, traffic marshals will manage traffic.
- Outside these hours, temporary traffic lights will be in operation.
